Why Are Female Bosses Less Welcome Than Male Ones?

leave a comment »

I know that this article mainly deals with corporate bosses. But which boss would you prefer and why? I never had a woman boss but from my 5 years experience in an office environment, I think I’d actually prefer one due to the abrasive qualities of my past bosses.

One positive finding was that both men and women said they ended up developing a favorable impression of female bosses after working under one. This was especially true for male respondents.

Believable but,

“Women bosses need to realize that employees get more energized when working under a boss who delegates ‘missions’ rather than one who tries to handle everything themselves,” Kang added.

Painting an entire sex with the same brush are we?

Sexually Abusive Teachers to Be Kicked Out of School

with 3 comments

I got a kick out the title of this Korea Times piece. What the hell were they doing up to now?

Currently, delinquent teachers get away with punitive measures such as reduced wages and reprimands in cases of sexual molestation. These “light” punishments have invoked severe public criticism, forcing the ministry to take a tougher stance.

Meanwhile, native English teachers are getting tarred and feathered for something that is ‘expected of them’.

Due this to ridiculous lack of enforcement, I wonder how many Korean teachers committed these despicable acts because they thought that they could ‘get away with it’. Maybe Antienglishspectrum should get a hold of those stats.
